At times rugged and scenic, at times gentle and smooth – a trip into the rocky Kleine Lautertal valley and onto the Alb plateau is a hiking experience. Hikers are rewarded with the first view on the ascent to Oberherrlingen. The route then descends into the Lautertal valley, with its numerous meanders, to the romantic Lauter spring. This is followed by a steep but shady climb to Hohenstein. Across the plateau, the route returns via Weidach and along the upper edge of the Kiesental valley through the forest. The final stretch is adorned with a patch of juniper heath with a view toward Ulm.
