The third section of your cycling tour begins in Ingolstadt. Following the Danube, which initially flows leisurely, you reach the small town of Vohburg. The historic fortification walls and city gates here tell of 1.200 years of history. A special natural spectacle awaits you between Weltenburg and Kelheim: the Danube Gorge. Here, the Danube forces its way through the rocks of the Franconian Jura Mountains. This stretch is best covered by water; the route over the mountain is no fun, unlike a boat trip. The Danube makes a few more mighty loops before reaching its northernmost point: Regensburg, a city that offers everything a tourist could want.
For most of this section, you'll ride on quiet country roads and car-free cycle paths and riverside trails. Occasionally, you'll have to briefly detour onto busy roads. Occasionally, you'll also encounter uphill and downhill sections.
