The most beautiful starting point for the tour is the Blautopf, romantically situated near the monastery. After an initial climb to the Blaufels viewpoint, the route continues past the Knoblauchfels to the former hilltop castle Rusenschloss. After crossing the Blau River, the route first goes to the Brillenhöhle cave, then through the rock labyrinth up to the Günzelburg ruins. The descent to the town begins via the Barmen River.
