The Albsteig, also known as HW1 or Swabian Alb North Edge Trail, meanders along the edge between Donauwörth and Tuttlingen, mostly on natural paths on the Albtrauf, the northern steep flank of the Swabian Alb. The adventure route passes impressive landscapes, geological sensations, proud castles, fairytale palaces and enchanted stalactite caves over a good 350 kilometers. And again and again, hikers are treated to breathtaking panoramas far across the Alb foothills from numerous "viewing balconies".
