This scenic valley tour begins in Blaubeuren, the town of the Blautopf spring, in the valley of the ancient Danube. The route starts with a leisurely ride through the Blau Valley to Blaustein, before branching off into the Kleine Lauter Valley. This charming valley follows the river to the spring in Lautern. Here, a short break with refreshments is recommended before the climb to Berghülen, Laichingen, and Heroldstatt. On the Swabian Alb, two large show caves await: the Laichingen Deep Cave and the Sontheimer Cave. After this impressive stop, the route descends through the gorge-like Tiefental valley, where all efforts are rewarded with a wonderfully long downhill stretch. Finally, the route leads through the Achtal valley, past the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Geißenklösterle cave, back to Blaubeuren. Here, visitors have the opportunity to explore the famous Blautopf karst spring, the beautiful old town, the monastery, and the Prehistoric Museum, which houses the legendary Ice Age art, including the Venus figurine. The tour is located on the popular secondary route of the Danube Cycle Path , which leads through the Urdonautal valley via Blaubeuren.
