Starting on Riedlingen's Danube Island, the tour initially leads along the "Danube Meadows River Landscape" nature reserve. A bit of stamina is required for the climb to the Bussen, the highest and "sacred" mountain in Upper Swabia, offering magnificent panoramic views and, on a clear day, impressive views of the Alps . The route then descends through meadows and forests to Lake Federsee, situated in the heart of the largest contiguous moorland area in southern Germany. The NABU Nature Conservation Center explains the flora and fauna of the Federsee region, while the adjacent Federsee Museum showcases significant archaeological finds and, in the outdoor area, features Stone and Bronze Age reconstructions. The nearby pile-dwelling sites are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps." The 1,5 km long Federsee boardwalk with its observation tower leads into a unique world of flora and fauna. The "Wackelwald" (Shaky Forest) is a particularly exciting nature experience for children, as the trees wobble when they jump on the moor. The return journey leads to the Bachritterburg castle in Kanzach. The faithfully reconstructed wooden castle shows how the lower nobility built in the Middle Ages. The tour leads back through the Seelenwald (Soul Forest).
