The Danube, also known as the "pulsating lifeline," is one of the most important features of our region. The marked circular trail "Danube "In Transition" uses numerous information panels to tell the story of the river's development, expansion, and significance, while also providing a better understanding of the technology and surrounding environment. Beginning at the Straubing barrage, the trail leads for almost 50 km, mostly along the dam crest, to Pfatter, and from there back down the other side of the Danube. The trail mostly follows water-bound gravel paths and promises an exciting yet relaxing ride in remarkable surroundings, with beautiful views of the city of Straubing and the heights of the Bavarian Forest.
