10 All around the Donaumoos

Start Leipheim

The starting point of this tour is the town of Leipheim. Following the Danube to the right and then continuing on quiet side roads, the route leads first to Riedheim. Accompanied by avenues of trees and pollarded willows, the path winds through the expansive moorland. The route continues with gentle ups and downs via Rammingen to Lindenau. After descending through the forest, there is an opportunity to turn right briefly to the Hohlenstein caves. Famous finds, such as the "Lion Man," have made these caves renowned. After crossing the Lone River, the path leads to the right along the edge of the forest to the main road and then right again to the cycle path to Stetten. A detour to the Vogelherd Cave, where numerous mammoth ivory sculptures have been discovered, is highly recommended. From Stetten, the tour continues along quiet side roads and field paths by the forest to Niederstotzingen. The route then proceeds via Riedhausen to just before Günzburg. A right turn finally leads back to Leipheim along the Danube.
