The municipalities of Weichering and Lichtenau, merged through the regional reform, are characterized by extensive green spaces and waterways whose natural character has been preserved. The unique Danube floodplains and other wooded areas form a green lung between the metropolitan areas of Neuburg an der Donau and Ingolstadt. In addition, the Niederforst recreational area offers a variety of sports facilities and numerous other leisure activities for the whole family.
