Rottenacker was already an important center of the Duchy of Swabia around 1100. Its princes, bishops, counts, and dukes recognized the appeal and charm of the beautiful landscape along the Danube and the Albanstieg and gathered here several times for Swabian princely or state assemblies. The Danube Loop, the biosphere reserve, and the UNESCO Ice Age World Heritage Site are in the immediate vicinity. A local focal point is the award-winning new town center on the village square, featuring a town hall, an exemplary museum, and a village pub. The distinctive brick-red hydroelectric power station supplies the entire community with renewable energy. Nesting above it is perhaps the most photographed pair of storks on the Danube Cycle Path. The beautiful, natural bathing lake invites you to swim and relax. An old local chronicle describes the residents as "cheerful, outspoken, cheerful, and helpful." This hasn't changed. Welcome.
