The Liebfrauenmünster “To the Beautiful of Our Lady” in Ingolstadt is one of the most important late Gothic hall churches in southern GermanyThe foundation stone was laid in 1425. The builder was Duke Ludwig the Bearded of Bavaria-Ingolstadt, who wanted to express both his claim to power and his piety with the church. The church was originally intended to serve as the new city parish church and also as the burial place of the Bavarian dukes. Particularly worth seeing: the massive roof trusses and the unfinished church towers placed at an angle.
