At the time of secularization, the former "Free Imperial Abbey of Kaisersheim" owned, among other things, 18 whole and 12 half-villages, 12 schools, and a total of 9537 subjects. The magnificent Imperial Hall is an expression of this power.

The magnificently restored Imperial Hall (1980-89) is an outstanding example of the Regency style. Located in the east wing of a former monastery building, which now serves as a correctional facility, it is primarily used for concerts and public events.

In the foyer and adjacent rooms, the permanent exhibition “Behind Bars” describes the development of the penal system over the centuries.
