Carolingian monastery town of Meßkirch
At the "Campus Galli" monastery construction site near Meßkirch, a piece of the Middle Ages is taking shape day by day, combining archaeology, craftsmanship, and historical education: Since 2013, craftspeople and volunteers have been using 9th-century methods to create a monastery based on the famous St. Gall monastery plan. Construction is carried out exclusively with tools, materials, and techniques from the early Middle Ages in order to research historical working methods.
