Furtwangen's local mountain is the highest point in the city and is a popular tourist destination. At the top of the mountain, you will be greeted with a breathtaking view The Brend observation tower, built in 1905, towers over the mountain peak by another 20 meters. From the tower, one has a great view over the Feldberg with a height of 1.493 m (highest mountain in the Black Forest) over the Kaiser plain to the Swiss Alps. The Northern Black Forest and the Vosges Mountains can also be admired in good weather.
