Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the Danube Cycle Path

The ultimate packing list for your Danube cycling trip is coming soon.

Here you will find an overview of all Bed+Bike accommodations along the Danube Cycle Path that specialize in catering to cyclists. During peak season , school holidays , or if you are traveling in a group, we recommend booking your accommodations well in advance of your cycling trip . Bed capacity is limited, especially in the smaller towns along the Danube.

If you're planning a spontaneous trip or don't want to plan your daily stages in advance , you can also inquire with hosts on the day of arrival, subject to availability. However, you might then find accommodation located some distance from the cycle path.

On our website, in the "Tour Planning" section , you'll find the complete route as a GPX file and an overview map. In the " Stages" section , you'll find the individual GPX files for each section of the route.

If you like to plan your tour with a book, we can recommend our partner, the publisher Esterbauer. Their "Bikeline" series is, so to speak, the bible for long-distance cyclists.

Regional trains in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria run almost parallel to the Danube Cycle Path . Bicycles do not need to be registered. Please note that space is limited, so you may need to take a later train. Therefore, it's best to avoid planning your arrival and departure on weekends. The Danube Cycle Path is almost entirely flat ; only a few short inclines can be found on the Donaueschingen-Ulm section and before Neuburg, but these are easily manageable by pushing your bike. The suggested daily stages can be shortened or lengthened as desired, depending on your fitness level.

You can get all the information from our friends in Upper Austria .
